Rockstar Games’ third entry in the GRAND THEFT AUTO series for the XBox is GRAND THEFT AUTO: San Andreas. Expanding on the previous two GTA games, San Andreas gives players three huge cities to explore plus the countryside while dealing with crooks, gangs, and the occasional drive-by shooting. The story of GRAND THEFT AUTO revolves around gangster CJ Johnson. Having spent the last five years in Liberty City, the setting of the previous GTA game, CJ returns home when he learns that his mother has been killed. Once back in Los Santos, the first city in the game, he’s immediately pulled into the underworld. CJ first begins rebuilding his gang and taking back his territory by accomplishing a series of missions that involve arson, theft, and, eventually, taking out the opposition. The game follows the same mission format the previous GTA games did, although there are new twists and turns that make the missions of San Andreas unique. CJ has some new abilities that also open more areas, such as the ability to swim and climb over high walls. However, he must be in shape to accomplish some of the more physically demanding tasks, so players must occasionally hit the gym to build up strength. Physical condition is just one of many stats the game tracks, each of which has a specific impact on the game. Mature gamers (older teens and adults) will find San Andreas just as fun and exciting as the previous GRAND THEFT AUTO games.
