Description

Capcom’s MEGA MAN series has been around almost since the dawn of the gaming age, but so far its classic gameplay hasn’t gone stale. However, Capcom has changed things up a bit with MEGA MAN X: Command Mission for the Game Cube. Instead of the traditional action game, this is a turn-based RPG where players field a team of reploids to battle enemies. Players will recruit reploids throughout the game for their teams, and each brings his or her own unique weapons to the field. Battles take place in turns, with each of the player’s three characters and enemies getting to attack, defend, or use an item. Each character has different attacks, as well, and each attack uses weapon energy, with more powerful attacks using more energy. Characters also have a Hyper Mode, which makes them much stronger for a limited number of turns. Also, if players deplete an enemy’s life quickly, their characters will join together to launch a devastating final strike on it. Outside of battle, the game incorporates many other RPG staples like equipment and skills. Also, Mega Man can find and repair damaged reploids he find in the field and send them out on search missions which can result in extras like gallery sketches and video clips. While the game does depart from the standard MEGA MAN formula, players will find that MEGA MAN X: Command Mission stays true to the MEGA MAN series while taking a fresh new approach to the world of battling robots.
